Scope and content

Says he might be right not to admit John Gifford to a fellowship at Jesus and would let him go to Emmanuel instead. Refers to best types of tuition available in Cambridge. Mentions he has taken the Norfolk Circuit. Give his compliments to Chapman and tell him he means to dine at Caius if they let him dine in Hall when he's there. Doubts the conservative policy of this session . Lord Bewick's speech has damaged them. The Queen has made herself as little popular as possible. Not that she's ot possible, just dangerous for the monarchy to not appear to care. 'They had the impudence to introduce her and Prince A - making love in the Pantomime amidst the laughter of the galleries - what government can stand that? Contempt is fatal to authority'.
