Scope and content
Letter from Dorothy Whitelock, in manuscript, two small folios (recto & verso), dated 9 August 1962, commenting upon a manuscript paper, entitled "Numismatic evidence for the word MOT in tenth-century Mercia" (attached), with two further attachments. DW suggests that a friend with an interest in Anglo-Saxon linguistics may be willing to publish the paper with some adjustments, specifically in reference to the work of other scholars in the field such as Alan S. C. Ross and his students. She also discusses various other options for publication.
(a) draft paper entitled "Numismatic evidence for the word MOT in tenth-century Mercia", in manuscript, eight pages, one-sided, composed on the reverse of some sort of schedule of fees. There is a note in the margin of the first page acknowledging that Prof. Dorothy Whitelock and Dr R. I. Page had "read through a draft of the fuller numismatic version of this paper".
(b) typescript with a few manuscript annotations, single page, undated, on Newham College letterhead, signed "DW", consisting in DW's comments on a fuller version of the paper.
(c) manuscript, single page, undated, signed "Note by R. I. Page, Corpus Christi".
