Letter from Derek Allen, in manuscript, one folio (recto & verso), dated 12 May 1970, noting that the papers of Sir John Marsham in the Kent County Archive include three 17th-century copies of Medieval numismatic treatises. He believes that one may be known through other sources but he's not sure about the other two. He provides titles, in the event that IS thinks that they may be relevant to his research, and he encourages IS to pass any useful information on to others.
The materials are catalogued as U1121.Z.52.1-3 (= U1121/Z52/1-3):
(1) Tractat de Moneta et Alaio (ex Bibliotheca Cottoniana)
(2) De Moneta, fol. 259A
(3) De Compositione Monete et Mensurare [...]
He says that he didn't have much time to work with the material but (3) appeared to date from the time of Edward I and was in Norman French. He also mentions other numismatic material in the Marsham papers – catalogued as U1121.Z35-37 (= U1121/Z35-37) – but he adds that the material deals exclusively with Ancient Greek and Roman numismatics.
