Letter from Christopher Brooke with copy of the same and four attachments:
(a) letter from Christopher Brooke, in typescript, single page, dated 4 May 1990, labelled confidential, informing IS that the Master of [Gonville and] Caius [College] has asked him "to prepare the case for the renewal of the College's contribution to the support of Philip's great scheme, i.e. Mark's salary". He encloses a draft of his statement, notes that "Philip [Grierson] will submit a formal proposal with the financial details" and asks IS to prepare a supporting letter that focuses "on the quality and success of Philip's project, and Marks's own standing as a scholar". There are annotations/corrections added in pencil in the left and lower margins.
(b) copy of the same.
(c) draft copy of Christopher Brooke's representation to Peter Gray, Master of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in typescript, 4 pages on four folios (recto only), dated 30 April 1990, labelled confidential, in support of Philip Grierson, Mark Blackburn and the Medieval European Coinage project.
(d) Mark Blackburn's curriculum vitae (3pp) and list of publications (7pp), in typescript, both dated May 1990.
(e) copy of letter from Ian Stewart to the Master of Gonville and Caius College [i.e. Prof. Peter Gray], Cambridge, in typescript, two pages on two folios (recto only), dated 18 May 1990, in support of the College extending "the arrangement for funding half of the stipend of Mr Mark Blackburn in connection with [the Medieval European Coinage] project".
