Comprises Bronowski's correspondence with Adrian Malone and Robert Reid on: meeting Reid in Paris to discuss the proposal for 'The Ascent of Man'; early negotiations at the BBC about how the programme would be made; feedback on programme outlines by Bronowski and Adrian Malone's first treatments for the programmes (with a copy of the treatments).

Also includes: a rough map showing planned filming locations; a list of work done so far, up to 25 Sep 1970; a copy of a BBC document entitled 'The Ascent of Man: a series suggestion for thirteen colour film documentaries' (Oct 1969); an outline of the series and a sample script for programme 7 'The Majestic Clockwork' by Bronowski (Aug 1969); and photocopies of BBC documents on ideas for television programmes on "Things to come"/"Towards 2000" (1969).
