The site of 'Milton House' and 'Ingleside' was a wide ditch which divided Christ's Pieces from the roadside waste south of Walls Lane [King Street]. In 1809 Jesus College granted a building lease of this site, the lessee covenanting to fill in the ditch and build over it. This was done and houses were built on the east and west sides of Pikes Walk. The buildings were held on the same lease until the counterpart leases of 1880 ['Ingleside'] and 1895 ['Milton House'] show this no longer to be the case. The freehold of 'Milton House' on the west side was sold in the 1970's. No. 1 Pikes Walk ('Ingleside'), built in 1880, is the remaining development from the 1809 lease.
A report on the possible conversion of Nos. 1 and 2 Pikes Walk and 96 King Street into graduate accomodation is catalogued with 96 King Street [JCAD/3/CAM/KING/22/4/1]. The transfer of this property to Megahart Limited is found with the records of 96 King Street [JCAD/3/CAM/KING/22/1/1997]
