Contains annotated typescripts, reprints and a press release for Bronowski's lectures on 'Science as a Humanistic Discipline' (Centennial Symposium of The University of Illinois, 1 Dec 1967) and 'Science in the New Humanism' (Damon Lecture, 30 Mar 1968). Also includes copies of related sources and an outline for 'Magic and Science in Renaissance Humanism' [lecture] given in La Jolla, 12 May 1968.
Comprises correspondence with Katherine V King (Associate in Humanities Education, New York State Education Department) on a proposal for funding to have Humanities-educators-in-Residence and asking Bronowski to participate in the scheme if it were to be funded. Bronowski accepted for 1975/6. Also includes a progress report (1972-73) on "Project Search" and the proposal for the Humanities-Educators-in-Residence scheme.
Comprises correspondence with Robert Vas (Producer, Arts Features, Television, BBC) on a possible contribution by Bronowski to a documentary about Humphrey Jennings (1969), and with Colin Moffat on a planned anthology of Jennings' work. Expenses are as follows: bricklayer bill, brickmaker bill, glazier bill, thatcher bill, carpenter bill, blacksmith bill, poor rate for Hundon parish, income tax, income tax, quit rent, paid Rev. Stoddard for Sunday school, tithe feast, and stamps. Total amount is £99 7s 8½d. Pencil calculations below original indicate £108 left due.
Memorandum of Agreement for hire of land in Hundon, Rent payable totalling £62 14s 0d, Includes list of Reservations including 'Timber and right to view' and 'Tenant to pay all parochial expenses'. Signed by F.C. Finch, John Smoothy, and Fred Smith. Receipt for 1882 rent charges, rates, Income tax, totalling £467 10s 0d and £211 17s 3d, back of receipt includes handwritten calculations.
Fitch, F. C.The advowson of Hundon was acquired by the Proby Trustees under the provisions of the will of Edmund Proby, D.D., proved 5.2.1585 (NS). Dr Proby's executors bought the impropriate rectory of Hundon with the advowson from Bartholomew Soame, citizen and woollen draper of London (see Proby Trust 1). The Proby Trustees, who were the Master and six senior Fellows of Jesus College, continued to prresent to the living until in 1909 the Ecclesiastical Commissioners pointed out that by the Proby Act 1853 (a private Act to enable the College to vary the Trust) the patronage now belonged to the College.
