A letter from Thomas Edward Ryan to Percy reminiscing about his time at Henley as a spare in 1961. He recalls a story of rowing in a jury-rigged pair that was made by mating the bow and the stern of an eight, which was submerged after being launched due to him neglecting to lock his oarlock. He expresses his gratitude that Percy installed confidence in him when launching a Jesus College pair for his initial outing at Henley and for all other rowing adventures. He closes the letter by thanking him for contributing to his warm memories of Henley.
