A letter from J. Stuart Auchincloss to Percy, expressing his sadness at hearing of his retirement. He identifies himself as being part of the group that arrived at the Thames with the first American made shell and recalls his memories of Percy being the best part of his time at Henley. A letter from Benjamin B. Thelin, a former member of the 1948 crew, to Percy, expressing how sorry he is to hear of his retirement. He reminisces about Princeton winning at the Royal Henley Regatta and how their coxwain was able to lift their shell by himself. He also remembers celebrating at the Armistice Inn with Chris Barton and his Jesus College colleagues when winning in the Grand Challenge Cup. He closes the letter expressing how much his support and concern will be missed.
