A petition from the churchwardens and principal landholders of Hundon to Dr. French asking for a reduction in their tithes due to a bad harvest and low grain prices.

Letter to Rev Dr French, dated Feb 24th 1831, Hundan Hall, from V. (?) Cooper. States that Sir Robert Harland wishes to inform Dr French that the bailiffs (including Cooper) are authorised by him to sign specific documents. Harland also wishes to inform that four or five hundred acres of land valued at £97 10s per year, (?) to W. Cuthbert in the last four years, with the land having not product enough to pay its expenses. Harland has been obliged to draw from his purse a considerable amount to (?) the business with that of the land. Signed, V. Cooper.
