Scope and content

Copy of memorandum from John Moore to the Master and Fellows of Jesus College. Written from Clerkenwell Close. Description of clock Moore suggests based on the request of the Master and Fellows. Moore describes a turret clock to go eight days to show hours and minutes two ways outside and one way inside to set and adjust the hands outside and fit to strike on a bell of 5 cwt (with it to stand where the present clock stands). Wheels of brass in a stout iron frame with brass bosses for the pivots. Further detailed description of proposed workings, all at a cost of £120. The clock to be fixed in the top loft (of the Chapel) so that the ceiling of the Gothic arched room could be made good with additional work costing 5 guineas.
