Scope and content
Letter to J. H. H. Goodwin (Bursar) from R. Reynolds Rowe in which he explains that land next to Tenison Road was leased to the Great Eastern Railway Company for 40 years at a rent of £21 a year. As the company intended to rebuild their station and place their goods sheds next to Tenison Road to avoid the expense of cart haulage over Hills Road bridge the land was sold to them. Dr Westmoreland made the purchase subject to continuing payment of rent for the remainder of the term of the lease. The purchase money went towards building Chapel Court
