Comprises correspondence including letters to Bronowski and carbon copies of his replies, and copies of letters to Harry Boardman (Secretary General of the Council) and Boardman's replies. Subjects include: the establishment of the Council; a study on the military use of herbicides on the land and people of Vietnam commissioned by the American Association for the Advancement of Science; speculative applications for jobs on the Council; support for Regional Primate Centers (United States); funding and finances of the Council for Biology in Human Affairs; immediate priorities of the Council (Feb 1972); and grant applications.

Also includes papers on: 'Organisation of Social and Humanistic Programs and The Council for Biology in Human Affairs' (as approved by Salk Institute Board of Trustees, 13 Feb 1970); 'Fiscal crisis facing national program for Primate Research Centers presently before Congress' [c. May 1970]; 'Behavioural Science, Engineering and Poetry' by Daniel S. Lehrman, Institute of Animal Behaviour, Rutgers University (photocopy of a pre-publication typescript); and 'Working draft of a core budget for the program of biology in human affairs to accompany foundation application' (by Harry Boardman, 7 Feb 1972).

Additionally includes: a copy of a letter from Joseph Slater (President, Salk Institute) to William Evers (The Camilla and Henry Dreyfus Foundation) applying for a grant to help fund a role at the Salk Institute, and in the Council, for Professor Paul M. Doty; photocopies of press articles about a conference on technology sponsored by the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies (President Joseph Slater) ending in "chaos" (Sep 1970); a press cutting about the National Endowment for the Humanities (San Diego Evening Tribune, 16 Aug 1974); and 2 volumes of 'Science & Government Report: The Independent Bulletin of Science Policy' (Feb and Apr 1973).
