Consists of a spiral bound volume (inscribed "J Bronowski, 1973") containing reports by Jacques Barzun, Bronowski and Jared R. Tinklenberg which were part of a study a series of seminars organised by the Council for Biology in Human Affairs [for the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse]. Also contains: 'A Background Statement for the Discussion of New Economic Conditions of the Young' working paper by Edward Kalachek; agendas and details of all the seminars in the study; a photocopy of a press cutting from the Wall Street Journal about a seminar on 'Central Influences in American Life' (4 Apr 1972); and copies of letters from Jacob K. Javits (United States Senate) and Raymond P. Shafer (Chairman, National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse) about the success of the seminars.
The Chairmen's reports are: 'Sidelights on further conversations about the contemporary scene' by Barzun as an addendum to the seminar on 'The Social Context: Education, the Arts and the Body Politic'; 'Attitudes of the Young' by Bronowski as an addendum to the seminar on 'The Changing Status of the Young'; and 'Societal Features of Repetitive Drug Use: A Perspective' by Tinklenberg as an addendum to the study on the 'Societal Features of Repetitive Drug Use'.
