According to Zeng's book Dian Kang Dao Shang (On the way from Yunnan to Chuankang) (1943), Xin Shan Temple is the most dangerous place in the whole journey from Kunming to Huili. A government sponsored group of engineers had all their possessions searched including all clothes and equipments.
